Ellie
Ellie is the main protagonist in the film, Ellie was the one who organised the camping trip for the weekend, so when they came back and found out that a war started she felt that it was her duty to protect the safety of her friends. So during the film Homer and Ellie are the leaders of the group. They make the final decisions for the group and plan what they do next.
She is a natural born leader even though no one appointed her to make the choices she did it without asking and everyone followed because they trusted her and believed in her.
Ellie is also very brave and a quick thinker as shown in one of the scenes where she blew up a lawn mower so they could get away.
Before the war Ellie was outgoing and like to have fun she wasn’t the serious type, but as soon as the war started she changed into someone who took things very seriously and didn’t like to muck around, this is shown in a scene where Chris was supposed to watch out for soldiers but fell asleep at his post and when Ellie finds him sleeping she throws a massive fit.
Ellie also cares a lot about the safety of the group, not just in the scene where she throws a fit at Chris for falling asleep at his post but also when she finds out Lee was shot and still in the town and in danger, She wanted to go straightaway to help but Homer stopped and explained to her that it was too dangerous. So Ellie would put her life on the line for her friends.
